Samsung without a doubt without even looking at the specs. From what i have heard about the new Samsung TVs they are borderline excellent and it is well known that Samsungs screen technology is some of the best right now. It even shows in their phones (coming from an e900 owner).

I will take a look at the pioneers' specs later when i have time, but my guy says the Samsung. I also have doubts about pioneer as a brand, i can't think why but i know there is some reason i have been put off them before.

The pioneer has a plus when looking at sound, but the Samsung seems have better image quality.
In short, they both do what they're good at

Use the LCD TV... much more better on a long term investment... Plasma: you will need to change the "plasma gaz" inside almost every 7 years... think twice before using Plasma lol

Plasma has overheating problems. LCD is the best technology right now. Even Sony stopped producing Plasma TVs because of this.

Im going with Samsung

Im probably being naive here but Samsung have always been great with TVs, what with all the new High Res HD TVs you see, theyre all awesome..

I would go with Samsung without checking the specs lol :)

My dad got a $5k Sony HDTV... I feel like I'm watching TV in poor quality JPEG format, but in motion. The sound quality sucks too. He got some low end Infinity sound system with it, which when at level 70 for volume, it tends to shut off because it overheats and can't handle that high of volume. My dad also got his from Circuit City. He's still paying on it. I think I would check the specs out first online before ordering a TV. The sound leveler sucks too. It either makes stuff too loud or too soft

I think I found it, or something extremely simuliar: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1158317053917

i always look for reviews online before i make any big purchases for electronic stuff

somehow i dont think a 70" tv would look right in my living room as it's only kinda average size anyways lol... going by the comments so far i'm leaning towards the samsung... was mainly the looks and reputation of the pioneer one that got my eye... but i know samsung are good and it's still a nice lookin tv... wotever it is, it's got to b a glossy black frame... just look so smart  lol... get a black glass tv stand for it to sit on hehe
