Just wandering how everyone thinks the web may differ 10 years from now. What things will we be able to do in our browsers that we can't now? How will we do our day to day tasks differently?

Personally, I haven't spent enough time on the web or learnt enough about it to have an opinion, I was just interested in what other more experienced people had to say.

Imo you cant make the web any better than what it is today without a little help from our ISPs..

If we were on say.. 80MB Broadband we could encounter many advanced web based applications such as PS2 Graphics for Flash games etc.

But personally.. it will probably be the next century before we see these changes.

My 2 cents.

I think that internet v 2.0 will be out soon, according to some its capable of speeds 10000 times faster then todays transactions. With those speeds comes possebilitys to for example play and run applications souch as mmo games from distant servers by just connecting to them downloading enviromental chatrooms on the go. Then id long for a computer that hooks up to ones spinal cord alowing us to navigate take in information and other things by thought alone. And in a distant future alowing people to hivemind possibly hub up around leaders ultimatly leading to conflict and wars. Yada yada.. but no one can predict the future im just rambling the vison of my apocalypse. Probobly the rapid develpment stops before souch things happen due to deplition of the earths cheap resourses. leading to war and knocking humanity back some decades destroing the net.

Hmmh a alternative senario is just that google buys every major site on the internet. Leading to a merge with Microsoft. Ultimatly buying australia and make it into the worlds largest serverfarm.

Imagine the cartridges ;)

I think at some point there has to be a get rid of the crap or get rid of the internet moment. Freedom of speech and access to information will both take a kick in the balls if the internet goes.

edit: Aha, the avatars are fixed! Finally i can have a decently sized avatar without its ludicrous alignment annoying me! :)

I believe you will be able to order things of the internet and teleport them through your screen. Or like in futurama, you put those helmets on and walk in the internet like real life xD

The internet wont really have major changes other than the new server scripts coming out. If you mean faster more stable internet try the one the government and universitys are using. It is much more robust and built for this rather than built to transfer files and transactions, then slowly added onto to allow billions to use it. Internet v2.0 will become main stream within the next 10 years but then it will become crappy like this one.

The web will become more smarter than us and take over the world and destroy all humanity!

Then they will play that song over and over again

"If you want to be happy for the rest of your life.." The one off that CS animation lol

But seriously..

I think TV internet.. you know.. like Full length movies etc.

Excuse me? I think you should also be able turn your pc into a tv and that P2L should get it's own tv channel where we can all learn from the P2L team!

This is a more logical response.

We will have, of course a better operating systems, however, even more cheaply made computers that break down even from one little power failure, the internet will have a billion more myspaces and bloggers. The internet will be more user-friendly. The internet will be faster. The internet will also be full of even more viruses, spyware, adware, etc. Soon there will also be these for macs too. Then soon Linux will become popular aswell, so as long as Microsoft doesn't touch Linux to beable to destroy linux with IP bullshit sueing crap. There will be more little kids on the internet and more pedophiles. There will be more space because they will probaly have 2TB harddrives by then. There will be more spam sites with numbers in it flooding the TV ads and ads period. Ads will become more pesky and harder to get rid of. Etc.
