Hi.

My PC has recently been randomly crashing, sometimes before it even starts to load windows. It can crash at any time and its impossible to tell when, and does not seem to have any pattern, especially since it can crash while doing low performance intence tasks like bios and such. I recently got warranty my MoBo and this was happening before too... exept it eventlually stopped working entirely, thus i went looking for its warrenty. So now similar things are happening, its hard to say wat i think is wrong. Maybey it wasnt my mobo at all and something else.
this is what i am running:

AMD Athlon 64, 939 socket, 3000+
Abit AN8 MoBo
1gig dual channel Geil DDr400 RAM
160 gig SATA Seagate HDD
Creative Audigy 2 Value sound card
Albatron 6600 Ultra video card, pci express
LG dual layer DVD burner

if anyone has any ideas or anything, would be great to hear from you,
Thanks

oh my PSU is one that came with my XG Xtreme gaming case, 500 watt

Ok, quick, well sorta quick, update. I have opened up my PC and cleaned out all the dust and that on the chips and got heaps out of the CPU fan. I cleaned up inside my PC... sorta hoping it would help. I also changed the slots my RAM were in, and i reset the BIOS. I then launched my PC and it once again crashed randomly when i was customizing basic BIOS stuff. I rebooted and finnised doing the basic BIOS stuff and now i am here. In BIOS the temperatures for the three parts (CPU, Bridge part, and top left of the motherboard where there are fans pointing out the back of the box), were all between 27 and 32 degree celcius, not very high. My CPU is the only one selected for auto shut down if it gets above the specified temperature which is like 60 degree celcius. I noticed my PC often crashed whilst playing World of Warcraft before, so i was wondering about the heat factor and am currently having the side of the case off. Temperature problems seem the most likely with the current problems but i really cant justify it with those temperatures. I donno what my video card is and am aboute to put the temperature gauge in my PC inside it, well, i did before but it didnt seem to work so ill check it out again soon.

Anyone else ever had a problem like this? I really need some advice, and any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Is this the one you were talking about, Davey?

Yeah, Abok is a friend of mine and I'm kinda weirded out by it too. I'm thinking it's a hardware failure... not sure what though.

it may sound a bit obvious, but its something i overlooked when my computer was randomly crashing...

is your HDD connected properly?

i had a problem with my cable which kept loosening itself and slipping out (but not far enough out to visibly see what the problem was), i just took it out and pushed it back in firmly and it worked temporarily, i did have to buy a new cable in the end as it kept coming out again.

Off course, i am a complete noob and i dunno anything bout those things, but i had the same problem after i installed a new videocard...
turned out my power sypply couldnt give enough juice to keep the card running and so everything just crashed.

Yeh, i thought maybey PSU, i might chuck a 450 watt one i have in it and see how it goes. The hard drive cable is the first thing i checked, and being sata i have now tried putting it in all the different sata ports, but i might try a different cable. Stu, did your PC crash in BIOS and before loading Windows? I supose it could be my hard drive randomly failing, could use my brothers hard drive to check that out.
Thanks for the help so far, any more ideas would be greatly appreciated

no mate it didnt ever crash that early, it usually took a while before it did... i assume the cable took a while to fall back out after i pushed it in again.
