- Get the publishing system released
- Add some new cool features
- Donna get to 10,000 posts!

I'd like to see a new script that I had in mind.. I sent it to Dan but he never got back to me..

It was basically a button next to any tutorial post on the forum that reads "Promote to homepage" When you press the button you have voted once.. once there have been 15 votes or so it will get sent to Dan or someone to file it into the tutorial system xD

That would be cool but other decent tutorials would have less chance of getting to the homepage as they'd be overlooked :)

Yeah. Anyone else got some cool things they'd like to see on P2L? The developers might check this topic out :)

I'm really fine with how P2L is now. As long as it stays the same as it is now (or becomes better... not becoming one of those rubbish "too much crap on it, it's not worth trying to view the homepage" type of site) I'm fine. I really love this community.

Cool thread, I'm all for more ideas and stuff, but bear in mind we have lots of stuff coming up  One thing i can say though is there is no prayer for a v4 release anytime in the next while... P2L is just so huge that it we would make major changes in moduled increments rather than a global change like we've always done. Not to mention I'm still battered and bruised from the last update :)

I think smaller updates are definitely the way to go. The "version" trend seems have died with "web 1.0" and it seems a lot of larger sites such as Zymic have made the mistake of going for a complete once over on the site. They start v6 about a year ago and it's due for release feb/march...but the site has died.

More and more websites are patching instead of doing completely new versions which i think is good as we dont have to experience major down-times for new releases :)

I think new versions are great when it comes down to you need a new layout because the old one just isnt doing the job, once you have a good layout like p2l's current one you can just do updates off of it as its pretty much perfect by todays standards. If you plan it right you shouldnt have any major downtimes when making a new version for a site. There is no real reason for it to be down for more then a few hours, unless your site is huge like p2l and you have to change all the db's etc for the new version then it could talk a little time.

We'll only see patches which is what i might possible do with my website. Just make it go to 1.01 --> 1.12 being the last one. Do the patches every month ...

As Dan said, I don't think a V4 is necessary. The current system can easily accept new modules and plug-ins. So if we have a new feature to add (like the Publishing system), we just add few lines of codes, and it works. V3 is fast and optimized so i see no benefits of making another version...

As for the design, you might see some changes but nothing major, we did tried to have a completely new skin with V3 but the blue/green design was still much better. If you see this design, you'll associate it with P2L so there's no need to change.
