I am having trouble with my router, so for some reason I decided to go to the Linksys Live Support Chat. And after having problems with the new modem, and countless other problems in which I needed to call support, I finally went nuts on this poor lady. Here are a few snips from it:

Quote

Noeme A. (10533): I apologize for this inconvenience, Zach.
Zach: Well if it was your fault, that would mean something

Noeme A. (10533): May I know if we are chatting through the router?
Zach: Yes
Zach: We are.

Noeme A. (10533): I see. May I ask if you have clicked on Save Settings after those ports are set?
Zach: You know, I think that might be it because every time I try to my computer explodes...

Noeme A. (10533): Do you still remember how to access the router's setup page?
Zach: Already there.
Zach: 192.168.1.1 in a browser, next.

Noeme A. (10533): If I got it right, when we access the router's page again, we frequently lost the settings on this page?
Zach: No

Noeme A. (10533): I see. Is this beyond the DHCP range of the router?
Zach: No
Noeme A. (10533): You can try that as well.
Zach: I could, but it would be a waste of time. If there was something wrong with the IP then none of the other applications would be able to function.
Zach: Since all of the applications point to the same 192.168.1.107 IP
I am still online, but it's been a good 20 minutes since she has responded to that last one.

At least she is being polite. Just listen to the famous audio recording of AOL's Support for a real nightmare. (can be found anywhere across the net).

But yes, I do know what you mean - I had to deal with one of my client's hosting company (the one he registered with) and the support had been outsourced to a foreign country, my guess was Pakistan or some other middle eastern country from the names of the support people I was talking to as well as by their English skills. I did get quite frustrated because they were talking to me like I was stupid but at the same time I knew they were just trying to be polite and follow their procedures.

Anyways, good luck, I'm sure you will work it out. (by the way, the support people from the story above never ended up giving me any real help so I just found another way around the problem).

I know they were just following procedure and everything, but something snapped >.< She never did respond to that. So looks like I'll be troubleshooting on my own for a little while.

Well I shouldn't have a problem with confilicting IP's because I set each one to a static that are 3 apart.

I understand how they think you are a noob whether you are or not, but they are just following routine procedure and assuming you are a noob even when you show that you aren't a noob. I kinda feel bad when you get mad at them, and proving you are smarter than them and they are of no use to you.

Well, no offense, but stop being a smartass and give that woman a break. She's trying her best to help you out and all you do is be an ass against her...

Like I said, something finally snapped. And I do feel bad about it. So it's not that I do that to everyone.

Just what i was about to post.

I have used linksys support once before for a port forwarding issue. While they weren't able to fix it 100% they did give me a good idea of what could be wrong and i was able to fix it myself.

Try not to snap :P
