Well, I've spent the last few days working on a new layout for my website, to be released on the 15th. So... what do you think of what I have done so far?

The Home Page
The Art Page
The Literature Page
The Art Viewer Page

One the news page and the art page, there will be 10 entries per page. There are still some bugs in the css,etc. For example, when you full-view the art (artviewer.htm) in IE6, it stretches the layout; I am still trying to find a way to fix that. Also, in IE7, the stats bars are screwed up, they have an ugly white bar across the bottom and they have no bottom margin. I'll try to fix this.

These pages are best viewed in Firefox, they have not been tested in any other browser besides IE.

I will begin coding the php this weekend.

It's very plain and really puts me off. But i like the idea of the design even though it could be spaced out more.

mmkay... I'm working on an alternate layout, but so far all I have done is the banner/navigation.

It is a lot different than what I posted above...

Your current is totally better just it could be spaced out and banner/logo needs work. That new version is really not worth it.

when you say "spaced out," do you mean that I should increase the margin and padding sizes on the page elements?

Sort of. I mean you should have content boxes on the left on the screen, centre and right not just all in the middle.

dont have all those black borders lol... that would help make it look a little more spaced out

I replaced the style sheet... now it is more colorful and more... spaced out. I'll keep the silver/white version for a secondary theme.

also, the new layouts have only been tested in IE6 and Firefox.

What browser are you using? There should be two columns.
