[C4D] - changing material during animation

So, I have this animation going (it's a robot dancing). I'm trying to get part of him to change material. Basically, it's changing from Material A to another copy of Material A, only with luminance way up high. How would I go about doing this? Would it be tweened (i'm trying to go for a non-tweened effect..) Would I need to make another version of the material, or just stick with the first one and adjust settings? as a related sidenote, how would i remove tweening in general? I'm currently using the autokey method of animation...

If the principle is the same as in Carrara, you do the following: you make a composite material with a "mix" function.
at begin frame you put the mix slider at 0%, and at the endframe you put the slider on 100%.
This would indeed be tweened by the program, but since the tweener is a graph, and you should be able to change the form of that graph this wouldnt be a problem (change it from a curve to a suddon jump from 0 to 1).

But i don't know where all those functions are in Cinema4D, so others will have to kick in here.

create two materials. one without luminance, one with
apply material1 to object
move animation slider to desired frame
insert keyframe
apply material2 to object

i dont use c4d but the principles are the same, that should work without any 'tweening'.

actually all keyframe based animations are tweened. That's the all principe of keyframes.

wouldnt it be even easier (if the only thing changing is the luminance) to just add a key frame on the luminance channel mid animation?
