Hi, ive just joined and ive got all of my knowledge from this site

im starting a new auction site

but i cant afford to buy a script and cant seem to find a good 1 cheap enough or free

so ive decided to either make it myself or do that and get someone to help me but everyone i ask doesnt know how,

what will i need to use (hmtl, php etc) to make a good one ?

and how long would this take ?

thanks
dan

Edit:
ive sorted a solution out, ive found the software needed for the price

Edit 2:
Im currently going to be building a PHP auction site like www.swapitshop.com, can anyone give me any advice on how to incorprate a points system instead of cash/paypal ?

Thanks
dan

With your level of experience, i would really recommend not trying.

But if you are adamant about attempting this, here are few problems we, as people trying to help you, face at the moment:

1. We don't know what language we are working with.
2. You bought a copyrighted piece of software, attempting to modify it could be illegal. Since you neglected to tell us exactly what you bought, we can't know for certain.
3. I'm too afraid to click a single thing on that site you want to re-create simply because it looks like nothing but an ad site aimed at tricking people into getting clicking something just so they can get money. So i can't figure out how it works, and that leaves me personally with no clue about what how this points system would work.
Regardless of that, every time i hear points system, i think forum. That is a task that i don't even want to try to take on simply because of the possible amount of work it would involve.

This is just a little friendly advice, you can take it or leave it, just keep in mind that none of it is meant to be offensive.

Here's what i recently installed for a friend of mine

http://phpauction.net/

Very easy to install and use, take the GPL version, it's only 20 bucks and has dozens of features.
