I've always been interested in surrealism and digital art. But I have no idea where to start. I got a cheapy digital camera and I just want to learn the basics. Is there any program out there that can help me. I'd take classes at a college if they wern't so expensive and if I had the time to do so...Ive heard of expensive programs like photoshop and stuff but I dont even know if thats what I need. Maybe eventually but not now....any ideas of where to start would be greatly appreciated. Is this even where I'm supposed to post a topic like this?

The best thing you can do is go outside and start taking pictures. You don't need Photoshop, in fact great pictures don't need Photoshop. Take your camera where ever you go, and if you see something intresting, take a picture. If you see something ordinary, make it intresting. Example: A clothes hanger by itself is ordinary, but 9 hangers bent, twisted, hanging off of eachother can be interesting. There are also some tutorials on this site that have to do with photography that you can take a look at.

I started photography (beginner) in November of last year.. First thing I did was just take pictures of plants and things in my back garden : http://www.pixel2lif...showtopic=27977
