hmm,
think you need -
depth
(you can creat depth by bluring the parts that should be farther and sharpening the closer parts, you can also creat it by making some parts of the sig darker and some brighter, the adjustment layer/gradient map helps, and you can use the dodge and burn tool, as well as simple brushing) ( just some hint's hope you can use them ) ;)..
blending the render
( well this could be many types of blending in your render,
smudgeing, ripple, spatter, well there are many things you could do)
but i think it neds at your sigs..
Colors
Well gradient maps, photofilters work with it.. :D..
Text
Well i'm personaly most to the simple text with as few effekts as posibul, think ( some ) effekt on tekst is a crime ^^
, but i don't like the tekst on your sigs, work with that..

Hope you could use my advise :)

As for your quality issue, what happened is you saved as .gif


Next time save as .png or .jpg/.jpeg

.gif tends to really rape the quality of any pic, and loses a lot of color information.
