I think I will go with the first answer. A quick google search should clear your answer up:
mySound = new Sound();
mySound.loadSound ("url.of.shoutcaststream:8003", true);
Hm, didn't think it would be so easy. That would go in your first frame.

thanks alot for the help, and it works fine when the url of the server is "http://127.0.0.1:8000" (because at the moment the server is running on my own machine), but when i change the ip to my external ip, i dont get the stream, any ideas?
ps, i dont get any errors when i run the flash with the external ip, i just dont get any sound.

Hm, I know nothing about SHOUTcast servers, so I really can't help you there.

Flash security strikes again!
When you run a swf, you are either able to access the local network, or an outside network. You might need to change some settings to get that working. Or have the swf running on the web host. Not sure. Do some googling about Flash 8's security and see what you come up with. Im 90% certian thats whats causing your problem. The other 10% is that you made a typo somewhere

the flash doc on the external server is is calling the shoutcast server on your home computer right?
if thats true then try running that external flash doc on a proxy because you cant access your own ip address from that same ip address without editing the hosts file in windows and i cant remember what the files called on my linux machine.
hope that made sense. sry if it didnt
