is there a way to convert or do something to a .swf file to make it editable?
Thanks

There are programs out there that decompile .swf's, and make them editable. A popular one is called Sothink SWF Decompiler, and I'm sure you can find a trial for it by googling.

Decompilers will rarely do a good job decompiling tho. Even more so if it is a complex swf. When you export the decompiled swf to an fla, recompile it and compare it to the first swf. You might have a couple hours of work to get it to work again. A big thing to check for is filters in flash 8, in my experience, they are frequently left off.
