Noob, this word must be one of the most annoying, irritable words that has ever been invented or used. It's just, stupid? Here's the thing, at some point, everyone is a 'noob' at something. We wasn't born with special powers to instantly know how to web design, graphic design and all the things such. So it angers me seeing someone call someone else a 'noob', everyone has to start some place, and it's starting to get to me why people can't respect that fact. It's like your in your car you see a learner, you don't wind down your window and scream NOOOOOOB do you? So why do it across the Internet, I just can not begin to describe how much it :P me off.

Anyway I'd like to know your thoughts on this, so please share them, your opinions won't fall on deaf ears.

LOL NG I could have predicted someone would post that, no I don't care if I'm called it. It's a silly name on the Internet and tbh I'm strong minded enough to not let it bother me. After all I know what I'm capable of and what I'm not. Just the whole idea of the word irritates me.

The way the word has evolved, now when you call someone a noob, its more just an insult. You are not saying that they are infact new at what they do, just that theyve done somthing that would be typical of someone who is new.

I don't partically use the word 'noob' but i do use the word 'newb' if someone makes a silly mistake, whether they are 'new' or not. It's not that much of an offense but i see where you are coming from.

LOL there was students at the 6th form I went to who used the words 'owned' 'noob' 'pwned' in real life, and they just ripped to pieces. It's just embarrassing to see, what do they do if they go into a club, they find and a girl and say 'hey your rack owns'. Goodluck to that LOL.

Actually, it's "You're both hilarious?" :)

I don't care if someone calls me a "noob", it only makes me think less of them and frankly i take 'insults' very lightly regardless lol.

I only get annoyed when i see some arrogant person calling someone who is a genuine beginner at something a "noob" meant in a derogatory way.

Is it really that offensive? I think of it as a term of endearment which people use to refer to the new person

Also, as has been pointed out: Your & You're mean two different things.... Or have they stop teaching it at schools now?

I wouldn't know I'm not obsessed with the board, so guess I can't be to blame? And I think I'm most likley right when I say that they were closed to pointless posting? Back on topic please...

Just to remind you this is the general discussion board..

Edit> What are you trying to express with your comment? I don't go to school, I am finishing studying for my A levels thank you very much. I made a topic that I had an opinion about, if its so much of a problem report me?

I think we should replace all the words "trainee" "pupil" "student" "kid" "child" "infant" "rookie" "newbie" etc with Noob, it would be like the internet but in real life and we could all go around sounding like 4chan. More serial, noob is just a expression refering to a person whom are beleved to know less in a certain matter. We use this because the internet is rude. In japan people who know less refer to people who know more in a certain matter as their "sempai". Thats because Japanece people are polite unlike the internet indirect calling themselfs noobs. But who cares realy, its the internet, you are supposed to be a  to everyone.

This guy has got it all wrong. People don't call people noob's for being new to something. People call those people newbies. A noob is something entirely different. A noob is someone who is impulsive and spams a lot, and usually knows nothing about web design, and continously asks stupid questions to people constantly, "hw do u do dis?", or "y wont dis wrk?". Yet they don't bother to find out the answer themselves, or learn anything about web design because their lazy sh*ts.

Oh and usually their 10 years old.
