Press and hold the "Alt" and "Print Screen" keys.

Then open up any application and then go to the menu Edit>Paste.

You then have your image, just save it as you wish.

If you are on a Mac (for those who want to know). You can do screen caps in 2 ways.
command + shift + 3 = full screen capture.
command + shift + 4 = selective screen capture. Gives a cross hair where you can click and drag over the area you want to capture.

You can set most graphcis applications (come on, even Paint Shop Pro does it :( ) to "hotkey" so when you hit that key it takes a screenshot and pastes it into the program. Generally though, hitting print screen and then CTRL-Ving into a editor works, even paint will do.

  • Interests:I love to do booth Web Design and Photography. Nothing beats a nice day out in the nature with the camera gear, getting loads of nice photos. I have been playing the flute for 6 years now and I love it, and I am playing the pipe organ as well. I also like to teach other people the in and outs of software such as the CS3 suite from Adobe.

Hate to drag up an older thread, but I felt like it could be kept in this thread as well.
If you throw in the Control key in the shortcut, it takes the screenshot to the clipboard, instead of making a new file on the desktop.
