Congress made the decision and now computer experts have to make sure their systems don't miss a beat. The switch to Daylight Savings time could impact everything from cash registers to cows.

We have over 1000 devices that will be affected by Daylight Savings.

Some people are talking about this causing a mini Y2K. I remember Y2K, planes fell from the sky and the world ended with complete and total destruction. Thankfully we managed to come back stupider then ever.

And many more.

Maybe if we hadn't made up the whole thing in the first place we wouldn't have that problem. I mean nobody when it is, everyone has a different year. Oh well, what can you do?

I personally like daylight savings time. It means I can still go out and play soccer when it's 8-9 pm, since it's still light. But I don't see the big deal with this computer clock thing. Was this really worth reporting about? (Not you, the article writer).

It's nothing to worry about really. 98% of all technology has a patch or will automatically update to reflect the change. It's really nothing to worry about.

The government is doing this to help save energy by letting it be light longer in the evenings. In theory, if it's lighter outside, then people will use lights less.

I don't think this change applies to international locations, just the US.

And when it comes to:

Cash registers: Change the clock by hand
Cell phones: let the network update you
DVR/PVR: if it's network provided (comcast, DiSH) let them worry about it. If you got a TiVO, let TiVO worry about it. It's no big deal. They got that covered.
Alarm Clocks: Oh come on...
Game Consoles: Change the clock.
TV: Change the clock.
Microwave: Change the clock
Computer: Download the Windows Update Patch or the Mac Patch for it. Duh!!!!!!

You see... nothing to worry about. Some punkasses are just flipping out because they're too freaking stupid to realize that technology didn't crash in 2000 and it wont on march 11, 2007 @ 2AM. Stupid.......

It's not the same as Y2k but most things are already pre programmed to change over on daylight savings things like our PC's and traffic lights etc but this year daylight savings is starting 3wks earlier and 4 weeks longer.

I put a topic up on this back in February http://www.pixel2lif...showtopic=31838

I was coming back home yesterday night and looked up at the time on the cell phone... it was 1h58 am. When I got home, I looked back again and it was displaying 3h15 am... took me more than 5 minutes to understand what had just happened loll

See, it's a conspiracy. The United States that it will nuke a country at 7PM but when it's 7PM here they would have thought it was going to be an hour earlier. I adore the plan really.

But really, how much energy are we really saving here?
