Hey everyone. My names Dave and I'm a newb to this forum. I've loved web design for just about ever and know a lot about html. This year in school im taking a tech class to teach photoshop, macromedia, and all that jazz. So recently I've started looking at tutorials and learning how to make templates because I eventually want to learn how to make great websites. But after all of the tutorials I still have a question.

When creating a sig how do you get those sweet random images? I'm talking about all the swirls and "crystal" shaped backgrounds. How do you create those? Do you use photoshop or what? I've never been able to find out how you do it. If someone could help I'd really appreciate it.

I would like to know not just for making my sig but as well as making banners for my websites.

it all depends sometimes they are brushes they them selves made or downloaded from an outside source... or sometimes its just alot of dots on a layer and using blending options made what you are seeing...

alot of times they are made from:
A)brushes
B)layer Blending mode/options
C)Color balances...

many other ways also but those are the most common.

hope this helped and good luck with photoshop

Looks good.

You're not talking about "renders" are you?

Well those are done using (usually) 3D programs such as "Bryce" and "3D Studio Max" (if i'm not mistaken).

Yeah I know, 3D renders are what I'm talking about. Before I posted the first post I had no clue what they were and that they were out there. Now I've got a bunch off of deviantart.com.
