Ok so this is my first time ever using flash.
http://www.dot-silve.../portfolio.html
I was just testing it out, but I'm going to do another one using the same stuff but seperating it apart so flash for the header, flash for the showcasing and then the rest will be done with (x)HTML and CSS.

Looks pretty decent - but scrap the default components. Macromedia coded them poorly and they use huge amounts of space. Plus - you can make them look way better. Making the site with html and css will fix this, but I think the text looks blurry. Make sure you have text on an even pixel. Even though flash allows you to use fractional pixels for stuff, it is a bad idea. Monitors cant really show partial pixels
You also have some invisible text field between your buttons thats gives you the I bar text selection cursor. Might want to find that and get rid of it.
Transitions in/out of the images when they load/unload would be a good idea. Possibly make the prog bar smaller and less obvious, then keep the image on screen until the other has loaded, then swap em. Less emptiness and whatnot that way.
Center it too, rather than on the left side.
The gradient at the top of the text doesnt seem to fit. The rest of the site is very flat and gradient-less, then you have one right on the top of the text. Maybe try another flat shape like you have with the rest...or drop some gradients elsewhere.
Another cool idea would be to have a thumbnail panel that you can access and skip past images rather than having to click next/prev all the time. Makes it hard for people to show off favorite images to people when they have to click through 17 images first
Great start tho! Stuff in the gallery looks good too.

Well as I said, it's my first try so I was testing stuff out. And I don't know how to do non-flash-component ones... yet... But I will find out and try it, I plan on doing so because I want to make it different. As for most of the stuff you said, I was going to do that when I come to the final thing. Example, it's on the left because it's uploaded straight from the publish.

I assumed much of what I said you would have already planned on fixing, however, it doesn't hurt for me to point them out. Btw, let me know if you need help with the coding for any of the flash elements (like the loader) on the site.

personally, I think it is very nice.
Would be better if you algin it center and put more space at the top-margin, so it will be placed on the middle of the page.
