HUALAPAI INDIAN RESERVATION, Ariz. - Indian leaders and former astronauts stepped gingerly beyond the Grand Canyon's rim Tuesday, staring through the glass floor and into the 4,000-foot chasm below during the opening ceremony for a new observation deck.

A few members of the Hualapai Indian Tribe, which allowed the Grand Canyon Skywalk to be built, hopped up and down on the horseshoe-shaped structure. At its edge — 70 feet beyond the rim — the group peeked over the glass wall.

"I can hear the glass cracking!" Hualapai Chairman Charlie Vaughn said playfully.

Yeah, I heard it's only $25 just for one walk around it per person each. Eh, but I heard the parking thing just to park there is a little more then twenty five dollars. But I believe Faken could drop the winner off at Skywalk , he's probably going to be like :nea: 'nea'ing.

I would seriously love to see the Grand Canyon but on the ground lol, I'd pass out cold and die if I ever stepped foot on anything like that.

Lol.. I remember when I did my first rock dive into the sea, 55Ft drop or something when I went on holiday with a friend, I looked down and felt all my insides just cringe at the thought of jumping..

In the end I took a good 2 metre run up and jumped.. It seemed like the fall went on forever.. I think a bit of wee came out too.. lol Lucky there was sea below

Anyway, lots of my friends were scared to do it but just brought up the courage and jumped..

I reckon if you went to the grand canyon, you would walk along it, its just the curiosity of it.. "Will it stay up or will i fall 100ft to me death?" lol.

Nope I wouldn't, I can't even climb a ladder without getting dizzy. Never used to be like that until I done a bush walk in Australia as I approached the edge of the cliff I lost all my body balance since then I cannot handle heights, can't even get on a ferris wheel anymore lol I tried lasy year and sceamed the entire ride  and yeah I was embarrassed but once the fear of heights is in you it scares the hell outta ya. But flying doesn't bother me at all so I dunno.

I read this article last night and I couldn't get to sleep for about an hour... and then there's those nightmares I had as well

Indeed it would be a great thing to do though

It's actually around 4,000-4,500 feet up :P

But lucky me, I live in Arizona, in Goodyear which is about 30 miles from Phoenix, dunno how far from the Grand Canyon though..
