Maya Texture Paths

My friend was doing some work in Maya but when he transferred the work to my computer all the textures became invalid because they were referenced with absolute paths. How do I change the paths to relative so that files can be transferred between computers without having to relink all the textures or use the same file path?

check the hypershader, but i doubt that's possible usually the textures are absolute pathed from the second they are applyed
