Hi folks!

I am very pleased that a project that I have tried to get off the ground several times will FINALLY be taking flight over the next week or so, and that is a P2L Newsletter! Starting *hopefully* next week we will begin to offer a sign-up system and a regular emailed newsletter to all subscribers with the latest scoops on P2L, what's coming up, heads up on ongoing contests and other awesome content.

BUT before we start sending out our new publication, I would like to hear from you guys, the community. What would YOU like to see in a regular P2L newsletter? Any and all suggestion gladly received.

Dan

PS. Just to cover the impending questions: No I can't include free back massages or LCD screens with the newsletter.

Hey what about a monthly competition. Maybe a prize could be something like an ad on p2l for 1-2 days. You could also feature new tut's and possibly have a review on new graphic design software and various other programmes.

Just a thought.

Interesting, I'll sign up...but i don't know what i want in it :)

Of course there should be a mention of the TOTW/SOTW etc, but i guess that's already included...perhaps focus it a lot on "community" activity to try and strengthen the forum etc more than actual tutorials?

I reckon you should have an interview of one or two of the staff members in each edition... then when you run out of staff members, you can turn to me ;) or anyone else... lol - start with the people with the most posts here and work down :)

Just a question: how big are you planning each newsletter to be?

Instead of the 5 latest forum posts, could it be the 5 most interesting threads or something like that? Or is that getting too lazy? lol

I would like to have a hand-picked Top 5 tutorials of the week in the newsletter, each one with a short but sweet review.

Also, Dan, Respond to my PMs! :)

seconded. although not neccessarily staff. i would rather see interviews with professionals in different industries from all over the web, from within or outside the community.

I really like the idea of the interviews of industry professionals. Hand picked tutorials would be great and possibly a highlighted tutorial that was exceptional written during the time period. Possibly toss in some community quicky interviews.

Yeah, that's a great idea!!

I'd actually love to see an interview from baeko or angel eyes - lol, they'd be first on my list

And then have like a 60 second interview where you have the weirdest questions to ask some random person on P2L... lol who knows how wacky those answers could become B)

Bug your idea of only the best thread's is kinda ok but also could prove to come across lazy. By this I mean it will repeat the top 5 for some months until another thread is rated above it. Could prove an annoyance.

It doesnt necessarily have to be the top 5 viewed or rated but Faken's personal pick of the top 5 most interesting threads since the last newsletter. Maybe also have a "wierd and fun link" at the end just for amusement value, something crazy yet amusing.

How often are you planning to send it out, weekly monthly? (or Daily! :P)

It would be neat to have (when completed) the contests off the Publishing System. Like list the upcoming ones and the winners of the past one.

Maybe it would also be neat if there is free space to show some members designing the same thing...let me elaborate.

I get the Photoshop Layers Magazine and in every one (I think every one) they have some type of project (website, magazine, etc.) where 2 or 3 different designers all re-vamp the same thing. Neither of them see what the other has done until it's published and next to their work is also a write-up about the designer.

Would be cool to choose a couple different members every time and have them do the same sort of thing.

Just a thought.

Wow lots of great ideas already. I also like Archangel's idea becaus It would act as a type of contest at teh same time and the prize like already mentioned could be like a free 50 clicks on your ads added in your thing kinda like the tutorial thing. Also the interview thing would be good but I know how much work that is and really it would all depend on how often you have these things. Like once a month would be great I would say becaus sometimes if its weekly it's just borring becaus not every week has that much interesting things that happens and making an interview every week would be very hard. and one of my ideas would be to have like one or a couple pictures selected from the art gallery that are really nice sp that more people can see the great artist we actualy have in this community.
