how is this border made. it look really nice but i cant seem to pull it off, if anyone knows of a tutorial for this i would be gratefull

ive been playing with the blending options in photoshop but havent gotten it yet.

1. I made 3 layers:

First layer is background color:

Second Layer is rectangle on top with darker color:

3rd layer is the border on the inside (!!important for my type of layer effect) of rectangle:
(layer 2 and 3 showed here for visibility)

great!, but how do you get the light effects just so. i can see that there is a shadow, thats easy, but for the light on top and the dark on the inside edge. i was thinking, bevel effect? but its flat,

On the 3rd layer i did 2 layer effects:

1. Bevel and Emboss:

2. Outer glow:

The color i used for the glow is a darker tint of the background color.
(watch the settings: set on normal and lower opacity!)
