Does posting links in forums &/or having a signatured linked to a domain help your Google Rank?

Also, does p2l have any rules against posting links from your own website if they are relevant to the thread topic?

HA! Not sure about your second question, but when I go searching on Google for things, funnily enough, I often find threads from P2L indexed on the first page... they often have links in them.

So the answer to your first question is yes!

No, it doesn't help SEO. SEO is search engine optimization, that is some thing that takes place on your site alone.

Page rank on the other hand is affected. How can anybody (or anything) know about your site if there are no links to it?
Before you get all antsy about that statement, keep in mind one thing. The creators of google were smart enoug that, if you try posting your link a thousand times back to back, it picks that up as spam and hurts your page rank. A link here or there (like in your sig) isn't bad though.

No p2l doesn't have any rules against links in sigs (obvious stuff excluded, like links to porno). Just take a look around, find a topic that doesn't have a least 1 user who posted in it with a link of some kind in there sig.

But there is a small rule about plugging your site in a post. So i now leave you to take 5 minutes of your time reading the actual rules, rather than me babbling :(

Answer to your first question is a big yes, it helps to be found by internet users in a lot of places, adds traffic to your site.

Yep, it sure does, but most forums (us included) will kick your butt to the curb if you use the forum to whore your website. You can certainly have your site in your sig and post it in the site showoff area though.
