Propax, you can get USB extension cables btw as I have one so maybe you'd be better off doing that.

Yep, unless you're looking for high quality then i would agree with that.

Just out of interest i "googled" around for extensions leads, and the longest i can find seems to be 17ft, but if you need longer you could always combine them.

What connections are on the camera? AV? If so it's quite possible there may be an adapter out there, perhaps not straight to USB but i expect there is some software/hardware you could use get it running on your computer.

edit: Something like this? http://spyville.com/...corder-usb.html

Good thing RC checked the thread before I did again... Keep this on topic or I'll gladly give out vacations to the next person who decides to irritate me.

Hey thanks Matthew for looking into that for me, I think I will invest in a high quality cam and use a USB extension. I think thats going to be the bst avenue to trek down as far as simplicity is concerned.

Thanks again for the help :P.

It sounds like you may have a IP camera. Security Monitor Pro is a powerful video surveillance software that supports up to 32 IP cameras. It has time based recording and motion detection alerting, and remote viewing, along with many other features that are useful. Easy to use and reliable and supports just about every IP camera efficiently. This is perfect for what you need.
