I am peeved, to bring up a little used word.

I am peeved, partly because exams are a complete pain in the arse and secondly because i do not know some seemingly simple things.

1) What affect does the cache size have on performance of a computer? Is it my imagination or do AMD processors generally have smaller caches? To take an example, what would be the performance difference between an Intel Core Duo 1.7MHz pc with 2gb ram with a 512kb cache and a 2mb cache?

2) What is the difference performance wise between Core Duo and Core 2 Duo?? Can someone explain to me why i should pay £140+ more for a number 2?
