Alright, I have finally taken the step of moving away from photoshop and looking into Illustrator and have already run into some newbie problems :(

1. Once I release a path, is there any way to re-select it and continue drawing the path? Whenever I try picking it back up after releasing it and try to add a new anchor point, it creates a whole new path rather than adding it to the existing one (if that makes sense...)!

2. Is there any way to group layers?

3. Is there any such thing as a history pallet in Illustrator, like the one in PS?

Tnx!

Edit: Sry, wrong forum, mods feel free to move this to the "Photoshop & Other Graphic Apps" forum... ;)

1. with pentool, click on last point (you'll see the pentool change shape: pen /w cross --> pen /w slash), then you can continue your journey :)

2. grouping is done by making them part of same set

3. no history needed, cos you can ctrl+z from here to eternity in Illustrator (dont even ever checked if there were a history, sry.)

1. Tnx :P

2. How do I make them part of the same set?

3. Ah well, that's too bad. Ctrl-Zing my back is not really ideal since I would use the history palette to compare the image how it looked a couple of steps back and now, but I guess I'll get used to it :(

edit:
manually you can do this from scratch: make the layer group (here that would be layer 4) and then each time instead of choosing new layer, choose "new sublayer". But then off course you have to think in advance :P

Ah thanks, I found out you can also drag some existing layers under a normal layer and it will act like a group. I'm starting to get the hang of this beast :)

dont bet on it;

illustrator 5.5 used to be so much fun; i tried even different styles of lines, just by using strokes.

NBowadays you need to be rocket scientist to really really know illustrator.
