Grab an image then:
Use the selection tool to select the size of the rectangles you want, then go to: Image - > Adjustments - > Brightness/Contrast then fiddel with the brightness to get the lighter affect, then repeat the steps making it less brighter each time

1. make new layer
2. create gradient; begin color = white, end color is white, begin opacity is 100% and end opacity = 0%

3. Drag the gradient bout halfway up (vertical -> use shift tool):
DragGradient.jpg 38.47K

Release and you get this result:

you dont have to do all that...
just make 3 small boxes, and lower thier opacity on each to the right percentage to get that effect. simple.

And for the reflection, use layer masks instead of gradient overlays.
Scythar's way only works half decently if the image has a white background. If you use a layer mask instead (with a black/white gradient), you will have perfect reflections on any background colour.
