I was wondering if anyone here knows of some good looking free PHP editors? Or what do some of you users use here when you need to code HTML/JS/PHP in general?

Thanks for the tips!

Adam.. I was sitting here staring at this thread early this morning trying to think of the editor I use and loved when I was on the PC. I use with DW and you got the name. ConTEXT.
That is an excellent one BioGene. Does a lot more languages also. Very nice free editor that one.

phpDesigner07 is a very good editor, I have used it since the 05 version and am now running the professional version. The personal edition is just a good however, I have the professional edition simply because I like those "extra frills".

I've yet to check it out, but the IBM open source free IDE called eclipse has a plugin architecture and I've heard there are some plugins for php. the advantage of Eclipse is that it has a massive user base and is continually undergoing improvement, the disadvantage is that its a resource hog. Another advantage is that it runs on any platform.

I just had a quick gander and found the the PDT Project which is the php area for Eclipse. I'm going to have a gander at it tonight and see how good it is.

Dreamweaver supports php? I wasn't aware of that. Does it allow for debuging as well?

:edit:

Just did a quick look at the adobe web site, yup it does php, but I couldn't find any info about debugging. I'll have to have a gander tonight as I brought the Creative Web suite last week.

I haven't used Dreamweaver in a few months, but last I knew it only debugs HTML (and possibly CSS)...

I use EditPlus2. Mainly because it handles SSH connections but also as it is simple to use and works perfect for what I need it for.

Nope, no debuging. I just like the color coding and how it keeps blocks formatted (the tabbed nesting stuff). Plus it has this handy selection tool to select everything within a grouping structure ({, (, ", etc...).

I couldn't imagine using an IDE for debugging php. That just seems like more of a hassle than it's worth.
