When i go to export, paths to illustrator the document comes up and it saves as an .ai document its just when i go into illustrator and open up the file nothing shows up.? and ideas..

or if anybody has another way to keep layers and export to illustrator that'd be great thnx.

1. there must be paths to save:
only the paths are saved, so you have to turn selections into paths f.ex., r anything, then you can choose which paths you can export to Illustrator.
Since the more intensif integration of PS and ILL, this function has lost a little of it charm.
2. after you've done so, all the paths has a fill and stroke of none, so you'll have to select all (ctrl+A) and then give a black stroke r something.

hope this helps a little.

In the old days this method was mainly used to be able to make masks in Illustrator very fast, for imported stuff from Photoshop.
