Opinions on allowing SPACES in folder and file names

Hey guys. It's been an age old rule to not put any spaces or special characters in file names and folder names. But from what I can see all current browswers will work with it even if you do put spaces in the file name and when linking to it will still work even if you don't use the old %20 for spaces...

What's your opinion? no spaces? who cares it works either way?

No spaces. Yes, support for it is accepted in a fairly wide range of browsers, but it's ugly and confusing. Not every joe on the i-net knows %20 means "space" and can get confused by it.

No spaces, duh! It makes the URL look complicated, unmemorable, ugly and long. Any more reasons?
