Oh yes!

Tomorrow, I will be getting my Macbook! After getting heavily bored of XP and not in the mood to switch to Vista, I will be getting a MacBook tomorrow Evening :D..

Its not a MacBook pro, im not on that good pay.. lol

Here is the one I am getting:

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw...gory_oid=-27753

Straight after work, walking over the way to PC World.. Picking my MacBook up, giving over my Credit Card.. Putting in my Pin Number **** -- Guess it and i will give you a free macbook :P lol

Then coming home, unpacking it and not going to come off it for hours lol..

The main reason i am buying it, is because when I go back to college in September, we're getting a bigger work load, this year we had 1 assignment every 2 weeks, next year we get 2 assignments every 1 week! So need to keep on top of it and instead of wasting time going to the library or pen to paper and typing it up later, I'll do it straight to my laptop and ill be done.

Thought i'd share that with you all lol

Anyone else got a MacBook? :D

Good on you. I know you will never regret it. I switched to Mac about 5 months ago and I have never looked back.
You will find some things a bit strange to start with because what is done on the PC with Ctrl is done on the Mac with command. If you have any questions about something just send me a PM and I will help you out.

Oh and once you get it here is a couple of sites you may want to look at.

Mac Opensource

Cool Mac Apps

I got mine Late may. It's great. I also have the leopard beta. It's a wee bit buggy, but not enough to uninstall it. I still use windows via parallels though. XP has much better DVD Burning/Ripping software.

You got the Leopard beta for free if you're an apple developer like me. You can pay to become a developer. I don't feel like getting the link atm.

Also G4DGET, I think you got ripped off, lol. The model of MacBook you got is only $1,299(usd) at apple.com, that's roughly £632 .

Ok so I sort of want a macbook when i go to colledge, but even though I won't have much time to play games at colledge when you play online games on a mac is it just mac comunity? Like say there is a BF server that I play on with my PC. Could i play on the exact same one with a mac???

My Mac will be strictly for College work and music only. So cant help you there.

Also, dont turn this into a Mac vs PC Thing.

Kthx.

A US price will never convert into a UK price like that, especially with big US manufacturers. Aside from VAT (+17.5...) there's import tax for the company and delivery costs which all have to be subsidised. Dell are a great example of this, unfortunately :P VAT & other taxes are the reason for the phrase "rip off Britain".

I have to say, coming from someone who already likes macs (I have a reasonable experience with OSX from school), it is tempting to go for a macbook. I have given my reasons for not buying one right now in another topic and I stick by them so this time I will be going for a Windows machine...but next time could be the switch for me I think. Definitely I could see myself getting a Mac Mini if not a an actual laptop.

EDIT:
I agree the price is steep though, take a look at Apple UK before purchasing...the 120GB config is only 738. I suspect the PCWorld prices are left over from when 512mb was standard for mac books.

EDIT 2: Decided to stop being lazy and go back to what I have looked at before.

You don't look for the design in an operating system, you look for it's functionality and compatibility. Which is why I hate Vista :D But I'm not against the Macs, infact I might be getting one as soon as I have the money. Gratz on getting your MacBook :)

Im pretty sure it doesn't work like that its set up so that mac games play on mac servers, but you could always run bootcamp if you wanted to play on pc. And G4DGET. let me know how you like the macbook im thinking about getting one soon.
