alright ive tried a couple graphics cards and ive came to the conclusion its not the card that doesn't work lol.. the first one i tried that i later returned was an asus geforce 6200 agp video card and now ive got an ati raedon 9250 agp video card. Both did the same thing when i put them in when i start up my computer theres two lights a red one and a green one usually the red and green lights both go on then the red one goes off as the computer starts up. But with the video cards in the red light stays on with no green light, my monitors don't work  so i cant see anything, my mouse and keyboard dont work.. im stuck im thinking it has something to do with the power but im not sure any ideas?

hm, that sounds interesting. Make sure that your power supply is powerfull enough cuz large vid cards like those take up a lot of energy. Also, make sure all of the connectors are plugged in all the way. and, make sure that your monitor is plugged in and turned on! :beat:

Happened to me once....couples of years back. I had a pretty old computer, 2 years, and I thought it might be fun to put in the newest graphics card and see what happened. The screen just stayed pitch black. Well heres a list of what I tried doing afterwords.

1. I looked to see if I plugged it into the right slot
2. Fastened the lock at the side of the AGP (I think thats what its called) onto the graphics card tightly
4. Reset the pin(not sure thats what its called).....on my old computer there were 3 little needles sticking out which were covered by a rectangular cap. The cap only covers 2 at a time so I switched it over to the other 2 and back.

5. Got Ram
6. Got a better CPU
7. Got a better tower case
8. Got a better fan
9. Got a better power supply
10. Got a better moniter
11. Got another harddrive
12. Got a better Motherboard......I think this one did the trick

U don't need to follow 5-12 I mainly did that because my computer had BSOD(that was shortly after)

I tried a 6600GT (two ;\) on my piece of sh*t compaq (xp 2800+)

It would power on but the monitor wouldnt come on and it wouldnt fully boot up

Problem was the 6 series geforces and the motherboard my computer uses = not all that compatible
