I'm wondering if it's possible to create a texture that blurs everything
behind it like the aero glass effect?

Oh, Here (click) you can see that anything behind the glass/window gets blurred.

Seeing as how vista blurs it, Its gaussian blur. Cant think of any possible way a texture could accomplish that effect.

If you need directions on how to do that just ask.

Yeah I know it's Gaussian Blur, Oh well I couldn't think of anyway off pulling that off
aswell. I guess there isn't one :/.

Although in real life that is possible, I've seen glass do that.

Well u make a selection :), Then gaussian blur it with 2.0 (fastest way)

if that leaves a weird feathered out (soft) border, Then make a copy of the layer, Blur the whoel thing, THEN crop only the part u need, Then it'll have a sharp border.

I meant I couldn't find a way to create such texture, Gaussian Blur is kids stuff :).

Well, i don't know your skill-level with photoshop now do i ;p lol

And i never heard of any texture being able to manipulate whats behind it, Blending is one thing, but thats not displacing pixels behind it. (could be wrong)

p.s., meant... ive been spelling it ment forever, now i know how to spell it, thanks.

A texture cannot influence pixels to blur, a texture is just a monochrome raster. The closest thing you can come to have a blurring texture are the Cs3 exclusive smart filters. And i still don't see why you would need to do this but you can make smart filter with area 2px Gaussian blur on the result and use the mask to move it around. The same as putting a merger version of the whole image on 2px GB and mask it..
