Well you can't really say what the best is, but I use AVG Anti-Virus.

Automatically checks for updates daily, automatic background virus check, plus it can be integrated into your email application to check incoming emails, etc.

Firewall, well i got the windows firewall, but I used to use ProtectX. Gives a nice siren noise when someone tries to hack/access your computer.

Not sure on the best, I know AVG is free and its quite annoying

I stick with no firewall/virus protection.

Good luck with that.

I know many swear by AVG, and recently I put it on my reformatted laptop (reformatted not by choice I should add - another HD failure.....fucking thing)...and haven't been overly impressed.

Although Norton can be a bit of a memory hog, it is an extremely good anti virus, same goes for Panda although that has its own problems to share.

I would suggest trying NOD32 as it's simple and effective and Zonealarm for the firewall. Really it's something you have to try and find what suits you best.

I dunno, I've never ever had any problems with AVG. It's always detected a virus automatically (when I get one which is pretty rare) and it has always gotten rid of it.

For AV: Kaspersky or Nod32 and for Firewall: Outpost or Comodo, Don't use default firewalls lol they by default allow ALL outgoing connections!

i use AVG and zonealarm havent had issues with either, AVG has spotted one virus in a downloaded file, but other than that, i think im still safe lol.

ive used zonealarm for as long as i can remember being online, never have issues at all, it is surprising how many programs these days try to access the web, things that really have no need too.

Actually a viable solution, Nobody uses mac's because they are sub-par, Thus, Not many write virus's for it as well :)

Well I'd go for NOD32.... I've used it for 3 years now, never have had a single virus in this time,If I've downloaded something with virus, I always see red screen, that tells me, the file has been moved to quarntine and that's it... And while surfing on wares sites, I sometimes see this reed screen telling ma that nod32 has blocked a virus, that tried to infect me via that website... So IMO it is best Av, but fir firewall, well not sure, I'm on Windows default and never had truobles
