i was thinking about becoming a freelance photographer, got myself a decent camera with zoom lenses, the filters, polarizers etc and theres always something going on around where i live and places i go etc.
I was wondering if theres any pro/ freelance photographers here and how easy they find it selling their photos and getting work etc.

Trying to sell your photos online is very hard, youe best bet is to start off local. Get a nice portfolio of work together and get yourself a name around locally. By all means post your work around places where it can get seen on the net. Make sure you watermark it thou so people don't steal it, get your name and your website on there and just try to gain as much coverage as you can.
But like I said, focus on the local area to you, as if your going to be making any money, most of it will come from things like portraits and weddings, and CanenArt will pretty much say the same, trying to sell online is very difficult.
Just keep working on it, start off by doing some freebe work for people, get some work experiance with some full time photographers, and just get out there and enjoy yourself really.

As Mr. Matt said, get yourself big in local areas, thats what i did and now every often i get emails from people.
I started off doing cars for my brothers boss @ the 4 and Rotary Nationals which is like our biggest import car show!
After that I moved onto concerts for a group called Act Up Promotions, first I did it for fun and just for them for free but now they email me and ask me to help out.
So I would really go with Mr. Matts info, do some local work, make a portfolio and viola!

I've found that it's just a matter of knowing people. I got 3 photos published when I was in College. The reason? I applied for an internship and the lady (although I couldn't intern with them) really liked my photos so she forwarded them on to her friend who was in charge of picking out what photos for a Christian Magazine. I haven't tried selling any since but yet...networking with a little luck is a good thing when starting out.
