I want to create a nice looking navigation bar that slides out, which can be done in flash, but I have seen nice menu bars created with css. I kinda new to css so help me with this one.
css and flash are 2 different things that cant be used together, i.e. incorporating css into a flash menu bar, is that right?
So i could create the css menu bar in dreamweaver, can you create folding out css menu bars with css ? I was going to create the entire website with flash, so if i if do use dreamweaver for the css menu bar can i link that in to the flash site, im sure you can, but im thinking it might have a lot of code so might as well stick with making flash menu bars. However I know css is good for search engines and has small file sizes, anyone got any advice for me.
I like some of those sites that offer flash menu systems i.e. http://www.flashmenufactory.com
those are the kind of menu's i want to create
flash or css nav bar

If you're planning on making the site all in Flash, then just make the menu in Flash - there are so many more capabilities with Flash. If you're not going to make the site all in Flash, you CAN achieve all that is on the menus made on that website...it will be a little bit more coding though. (but would probably be better in the long run for a non-flash site.

Hi,
I would allways recommend you create a website with both html and flash content. You can create a flash based menu but also add a sitemap file to your website as search engines can not follow links in flash files.
also load your flash content into your website from an external .js file. This will resolve the activation problem found in IE.

I would recommend integrating XML with your flash design so you can dynamically change the links once you create the swf file.
Here's a great tutorial to get you started

But like others have stated, flash isn't very good for SEO, so stay away from it if possible

CSS can be intergrated with Flash, but only for text uses.
