Well my wife and I have been in our new home for a few weeks now, and we had one heck of a lightening storm last night. It was awesome. Here are a few photos I just wanted to share.

Enjoy my friends!

Welcome back Jason, great pics 2nd one is neat.

We had a huge electrical storm here last week so many lightning strikes they couldn't count them. I've never seen anything like it was awesome started off as strikes down then turned into sheet lightning and just lit up everything.

A friend of mine caught this one and made front page in our local newspaper.

Wow very nice photos! There was a storm that just missed us last night. I was out with friends and we could see the lightning in the distance.

It was also pretty cloudy.

Nice photos!

Do you guys actually wait until you see it to shoot or do you just put it in burst mode and hold the button?

You have the shutter open and then close it once the lightning flashes.

Thanks everyone. Donna that photo turned out awesome looking. I kept hoping to see a bolt or two hit the ground some where, but we didn't get any that did. It all was jumping from cloud to cloud. It was still really cool looking.

Archangel to answer your question, basically you are slowing your shutter speed way down. I set mine for bulb and use my remote. Opening the shutter for as long as 30 plus seconds depending if lighting was striking in my view area.

Best Regards,

Jason

Awesome!

Thanks for letting me know! We've been having a lot of storms lately so if I can ever get my XTi in the mail I'd love to try it out.
