My first post! - Hope it's in the right forum:)

Started taking pictures in feb when I bought a EOS400D, and started working "serious" with PS when CS3 came out. I would love to get some critism on how I can improve these shots:)

Hope you all like them:)

Well I've noticed that most of users who reply in photography topic, tend to praise most of the photos. Well I've the lucky change to be a bad guy and be critical :D
I think your best shot is the 2'nd one... But lets start from photo no.1. You should really desaturater the eyes, they are too colorful for the rest of the photo. And maybe there is a little too much of empty room on the left side.

Photo no.2 good shot! Good concept. Just 2 recomendations, try it also in sepia toning, little more yellow, too much of orange atm. And try making nearly the same shot by playing more with the thirds. For example the shore (let call it shore) splits the picture into half. There is this light-house kind a thing in the bottom of shore... Try putting this on the left lower third and make the shore to run form that point to upper right point. These were just two wild-shot ideas I had, while looking t this. Although, you horizon is a little tilted. And maybe it would look better while all the corners would be darker... As the bottom left and upper right are.

Photo no.3 is totaly out of contoll... Your model seems to be leaving the picture, she is way too near to the edge. And what makes this photo even worse is the strongly tilted horizon. Fact that the chimney of the ship is out of the photo is also bad.... Well to bo honest, this photo wouldn't look that bad, if there wasnõt no person on it.... :P

I hope you won't have any hard feelings after reading this!:P

This was exactly the reply I was hoping for:) Good comment - This is quite new to me as I wrote, so it's nice to have someone pointing out the mistakes!

I will try play on with nr2 and upload it again when i've added your ideas. It might turn out just great; )

When I look at nr3 I can see that your are totally right! It really is out of control. Didn't even see the chimney-thing, but I think the dark sky and the huge chimney makes it look dramatic.

Anyways - thank you for the great comment;)

I agree with xXx-Treme on his recommendations for the first two photos (although as Bug, my favorite is the second as well). However, I think that on the third photo you would have had much better results if your model was facing the other way. You can use models to frame the sides of photos but the problem with how she is set up is when you look at the photo your eye starts at the top of the boat, works its way down, then across to the model, then follows the flow of the model through the head and off the photo.

If she was leaning the other way then when your eyes followed the model her angle would shoot you back towards the top of the boat keeping your eyes on the photo instead of wandering off.

Woah, photography classes coming out.

Hope this helps.

Well thank you again; ) - I tried messing with the middle picture but didn't turn out so well, so I decided to show another one I think turned out very cool. There is a bit of a highlightproblem but oh well: )

Haha - year believe me - I am: ) But I have worked hard with photo-tutorials all summer - and at my studies I have a teacher who loves photography so he helps me out with tips and tricks. Last couple of weeks have been really good for me! And when you guys give me critics I actually try to remember it;) I have all my photos at flickr.com/enix_dk - There you can see how much I have improved

that second picture is awesome. just keep shooting man.. the idea of photography is to capture an image in a way the ordinary person wouldnt look at it.
