Hey.

I have photos of our companys products. ie. Precast concrete panels with textured and broom finishes.

I'm trying to be able to change the colour of the textures to anything I want to be able to use in a rendering.

How can this be accomplished? Is there some way of just putting colours over top? I tried using "Colour Balance" but it doesn't get all the colours I want.

Any help would be great,

Thanks

Matt

Try CTRL+U, or the Hue/Saturation thing.

theres a million ways to do that, i would pick either of these though

1) create a new layer over the render you are using, set the blending mode to "Color" (in the blending options dropdown menu on the layers pallate, should be @ "Normal" right now). Then add color to that layer using whatever tools you choose (brushes, paint bucket, gradients etc.) and it will show up as if you are adding color directly to the layer. This is the fastest way to do it if you want multiple colors, but sort of lacks in the shading area.

2) Copy the layer (THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART, OTHERWISE YOU MAY LOSE YOUR RENDER), hide the original (press the little eye next to the layer on the layers panel) and then desaturate the copy (Command+Shift+U) which takes all the color away. Then go into the color balance menu (Comman + B) and play with the values untill you get what you like. Make sure to use all the options in the color balance menu (Shadows/Midtones/Highlights) if that isnt good enough, the use the hue and saturation (Comman + U) to fine tune it. This method will give you a more general color theme with some shading but usually only one color (and its range of darks and lights)

Hope this can help u man!

[edit] if this does help you, maybe post the finished product and give us a look see! :D

I was able to change it by just adjusting the Hue/Saturation wich worked great. I have another problem now. At the top of the texture, its darker than the rest, how do I make it all look the same.

When I render it, the darker portion really stands out.

Here are a couple of images I'm using. The grey was the started image.

I would say copy the lower half of the image and paste it as a new layer. Rotate it 180 degrees or flip it, then move it to the top. Voila!
