So... I decided to finally see what my XHTML skills were capable of... and I've come up with this! The first link provided is valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional... the second was a search engine I was forced to use when I was with a company... alone the search engine gives me 210 errors! LOL!
What do you guys think? Honest opinions here

1. On the example page there is a big blank space next to each image property, are you going to fill this space with something?

Whoa... I guess that's a pretty good thing then!
Yeah, if you hadn't noticed, the site is actually supposed to be for all of Australia's accommodation. The sample I chose was the Sydney section. The rest of the major city links were actually going to go in that spot you mentioned
