Im thinking about adding chat to my website, does anyone know of any free chat software that looks good. I know there are comanies out there offering msn style chat software for around 1000 dollars.

What kind of chat are you talking about? We're chatting right now, this is forum software, typically free. There are also shoutboxes, taggers, blogs, guest books... All can be found for free.

check out www.meebo.com, the "meebo me" widget seems to be what you're looking for. Free, easy to use and install. Definitely worth a look
