How do you get it so that your site updates hourly like to where one new item is displayed every hour? any good tutorials on this or at least a point in the right direction would be great. thx.

I believe you'd need to do a Cron Job for that. They are accessible in your cPanel. A search here at P2L for 'Cron Jobs" should give your some results.
