Hi, I'm looking to recode this website: http://www.beautystudiohowe.de/ a little, and make the content area endless, so that I don't have to scroll within, since it just looks silly, well I was also interested in this so called "Lightbox" ( http://www.huddletog...jects/lightbox/ ) but I was wondering how to prevent people from saving the images, I then upload?? They are stock photos I've bought and at the moment I prevent people downloading them by covering them with a blank .gif, so if one tries to download a picture off the site, all you get is a blank .gif :-) Of course there are probably ways to get around that but I try atleast..

So all in all my question is:

If I use lightbox script for a photo, how can i then prevent people from copying them?

If a person wants a picture you are displaying there is really nothing you can do about it.
They don't even need to save it, just do a screen capture and they have it.

I have concluded that what you ask is impossible. There is always a way around copyright protection, the only fool-proof-ish one is watermarking.

This is also a frequently asked question. If you search for copyright protection (specifically dealing with the aspect of disabling right-click), you'll find more info.

Edit: Demonslay, i've decided we're fighting for first post rights today :P

Ya, you can basically just try to prevent right-clicking with simple JavaScript to discourage some minors, but otherwise the best you can do is watermark.

You've given me an idea with the 'download a blank .gif when you try' idea. I'll see if I could devise a way with PHP to do that... the thing is though, even if the script deemed it so that it could show the browser the actual image, the person would be able to get it no matter what. You could prevent them from getting it from direct source, like going to 'site.com/image.gif' directly with such a script (or with simple .htaccess and hotlinking disabled), but otherwise you can't really do much but watermark it well.
