Please Critique my website's header

I'd like some critique and also some help. I'm still a little new to web design. The attached picture only has part of the header. The logo and catchphrase will be on the left.

Anyway, I'd like the "buttons" on the right to be sleeker and shiny. I'm not sure how to do that. Do any of you think that would be a good idea? If anybody is so inclined, I'll upload the psd for anybody to manipulate. Or maybe, somebody can refer me to a good tutorial...?

I like them how they are right now actually. As far as a tutorial for making them shiny, this is a commonly asked question, try the sitewide search.

To finish them buttons off some nice icons would really set them off :)
