i knew that,
k,
ill try to find time monday (sry, but dont see any time now) to go through the steps.
It would be a little bit easier if i knew if you have only photoshop (what version?) or if you also have Illustrator. It not really necessary, but i am used to make my preliminary drawings in Illustrator.
I'll even make a render of an animal of your choice for free
just tell me which.

0. Open Your image to trace in Photoshop
1. Take pentool and click at different points. Rules of thumb: never click on a corner but before and after (same, if possible not on the extremes of a curve), and use as little points as possible to get a smooth curve.
(do NOT click and drag yet, you never get what you want anyway, so dont botter till you have all the points)

If for some reason the color is bothering you, make the oipacity of the layer less.
2. Use the convert tool and the dirkt selet tools to adjust the curves so it matches (and better then mine). You do this by clicking on a point with the convert tool and dragging in the right direction (dont worry you will see soon enough when its NOT the right direction). Try not to cheat like me (see blue circles). You could cheat by dragging 1 of the handles seperately afterwards, but this will get a less smooth curve.

3. What you have done ftm, is you made a socalled "Shape-layer", which is nothing else then a layer filled with a color (my case black) and a mask, so you only see the shape.
The mask is a path, so if you go to the paths tab you will find it there too.
4. go to the paths tab
ClickPaths.jpg 13.28K

5. make selection out of the path:
MakeSelection.jpg 8.29K
35 downloads
6. Create new layer
7. Now you can make the "Shape layer" invisible, we dont need it anymore.
8. Save the selection and call it BorderOuter r something.
press ctrl+t to adjust the selection, make it smaller by dragging 1 of the corners while holding down the alt key, till you have the border you want.
Again, save the selection and call it BorderInner this time r something.
9. Repeat this transform layer thingy, but this time just adjust it a little, just to make room for your emboss filter you'll be adding later.
Save the selection and call it InnerPart r something.
10. Now on this still empty layer go to select > load selection and choose BorderOuter and ok
Then again goto load selection and choose BorderInner, but change the option to "substract from selection" and then press ok.
Fill this selection
11. make new layer, load the InnerPart selection this time and fill it with another color.

Now the fun part:
Style for the outer border (only thing you want have the same is the texture i applied, but just use one you DO have).

BevelNemboss.jpg 30.7K

BevelGlossContour.jpg 27.63K
46 downloads --> important !
BevelContour.jpg 7.4K
39 downloads
BevelTexture.jpg 12.06K
42 downloads
ColorOverlay.jpg 7.84K

Try to see if you can get similar results.

Then for the text, i put a new textlayer, used the transform >warp after rasterizing the layer (several other and better possibilities i suppose) and copied the effects of the border, scaling it down to 20%.
Suppose you could fine tune things.
