see how the text is flat?

how do i make it stand up and go around the planet?

Well Photoshop CS has a text to path feature now. I use Illustrator myself, mostly because I do see alot of reason to upgrade from PS7 to CS.
If you have Illustrator its easy.

but that is still a "flat" text around the area i want.
