Flash Tutorials.

I'm not really sure even where to start with this. My friend has made me something much like what's featured on http://ign.com/ . The scrolling boxes, with the arrows, news, etc.
It's designed to work generally the same way as that one, but I'm having troubles figuring out just where to start. I just aquired flash recently, so I'm definately a noob to it. I don't know what to look for in the tutorials and I've tried googling millions of different phrases, yet I've found nothing that helped.
So, if there is no forum out there for something like that -- could someone perhaps be willing to write me one? Or if there is, or I need more than one thing could someone tell me what all that is since I'm not really even sure where to start.
