Its simply a product of internet culture. Which I suppose is to do with art.
but a 200 x 300 sig, pour example, won't be displayed in the louvre' or tate modern (not that i would ever go there anyway)

Im sorry, i can work alot harder on a sig than u could on a template or website. Sigs are not easy, not great sigs, or original, or any other.
you may think sigs are easy but get a great looking sig can and i have seen and done hours of work on them.
websites arent art if sigs arent, cause they are both related. i do both templates, forum skins, sigs, ect..
NSL is a great site, and is a success, and is working on a v2, and just so you know mate, its not all bout sigs there.

I prefer working on bigger pieces. But a sig is good for ur practice.. time to time lol.

Besides, most sigs I see are all trendwhore anyway, and aren't all original, like using pictures/wallpapers as a bg and then using typo for the rest.
Just my opinion (and sorry for going off-topic)
