Just came back to show my latest work (Still in progress), I'll progress through it here as the ideas run.

A friend asked me how would you make a jellyfish, I decided to give it a shot. So this is were i am so far... i still intend to add tentacles frills hanging from inside and touch up on the innards... but wanted to see what you guys thought so far.

C+C is very welcome and i can take a harsh critic.

Stage 1: The Body, Initial playground

I'll take your criticism into consideration for my next part, I'm going out of my depth here and learning new techniques and ideas, probably the most useful image i've ever made in a non useful way.

Stage 2: Front Tentacles (Slightly More Transparent)

Posted Image

Instead of just changing the colours to match how it would as it gets more transparent, i recoloured, relayered it (I got so confused) so that now to change the appearance of transparency I can revert to the stone age way of lowering the percentage.

I do realise they are just the front tentacles, but they were the most confusing things I've had to make, and i'm taking a breather before i tackle the behind.

I also must apologise because some of the web darks appear alot darker than they do on my photoshop pallete, and the shading in some areas isn't quite as intense as it seems.

Stage 3: Farther Tentacles + Innards

It's really starting to come together for me, once again I aplogise for web colours. Every step is a hurdle and when I reach them I feel like I don't want to continue, but once I discover a way of making a certain effect then stand back and look at it I gain a great sense of achievement. Im pretty stuck for what to do next, so any ideas? My mind has just gone blank and I can't think straight.

Hope you like it so far.

Wow man that's pretty cool! Still a little while until it starts to look "realistic" :)

I think it needs to be a little more transparent, like 5% more or so,and add a background with like bubles so we can see it like inside an ocean scene may look even better then :)

Thanks, making it more transparent is gonna be difficult. As it is more the colours i used to make it transparentish than the tool itself.

I won't be makign a background until the actual jellyfish is finished itself. It would just distract me.

shouldn't be too hard to make it transparent, just remove the inners keep the gleam and then blur it a little adding a little water reflected light onto the body

Walnut if i showed u the layers seperately you would laugh at how i constructed it, the inners and the outside are one. :~ infact to make it appear correct I have to put the farther side of the body on top of the closer, otherwise it is a mess.

- BTW the next part is up, i got down and dirty with some tentacles, and managed to get the transparency lower despite my unhelpful structure. (Transparency might not be that clear because its using web colours, on my PS pallete it's quite visible and rather beautiful.
