Ive been looking around lately for a camera, a few of my friends have the one in this link:

Here

My friend says its worth it but i want more opinions before i decide to fork out that kinda money, here are a couple of photo's of my daughter done by a friend with this very camera:

Attached File  hayley4.jpg   1013.13K   90 downloads

Attached File  hayley5.jpg   1.05MB   86 downloads

Now am not much of a photographer im just starting to get into it, i just want a good idea of what to go for and what not to go for, when i take up a new hobbie i tend to dive into the deep end and end up in the bad books with the wife haha, "I always want the best of everything" so she keeps saying but so do we all lol.

I have the Canon Digital Rebel XTi and am very happy with the quality that pumps out and it's at a fraction of the price for the EOS-D1

itypeos, that camera is definately worth the money it's one of Canons best, I have a friend who has one and OMG the pictures that come out of it are beautiful. I say go for it iif you have the money, you only live once, only thing I don't like about it is it's a big camera so you can't exactly slip it in your pocket and your going to be doing a lot of reading with it as it has a heap of functions.

Wow! Before spending all that money consider the Canon 5Ds. It is much less money, it shoots at 12.8 megapixels, it weighs half as much as the 1Ds, you can use all the L glass lenses, it has a full frame sensor, there are tons of great things about the 1Ds but you can do nearly as much with a much cheaper camera!

I would take a really good look around before dumping all that money into the top of the line camera. It is a beautiful camera, no doubt, but why spend all that extra money when you don't need to or could put it into some nice lenses.

Thats my 2 pence ^_^
Have fun and enjoy whatever camera you do end up getting! :D

Had to come back to your reply as I got a new canon today and you mention about lenses :( they're more expensive than the cameras here I just about dropped dead when I was looking up a telephoto lens and it had a $6,000 price tag. My camera takes exactly the same lenses as the one itypeos has in this topic. So I have to agree with you buy a cheaper camera cus your gonna need lots of $$$$ if you want special lenses.

Any photography shop near you should have these in stock. I live in a fairly unpopulated area and all the camera stores around me do.

That's the nice thing about Canon, I haven't looked into it lately but as of about 5 years ago Canon was the only SLR camera manufacturer who had never changed their mount sizes meaning if it is ANY canon lens it will fit on ANY canon SLR. May have changed since then but I don't think so.

I would get a nikon d3 instead...
canon cameras are very user-unfriendly in my opinion.
But as said before: if you are new to photography you should go for a cheaper slr
