You know how bars that move to the beat of music. Anyone know of a good tutorial site to do them in .gif? With no music.

Anyone know a tutorial for that or...? Any help? Thanks

Something like that you might look into applet, flash or similar interface. Refreshing the page just to update the bars is not a way to go , even with gif files. Or are you talking about media gif files (multiple gif files in 1).

If you do this in GIF, then you won't be able to have it sync to music. It will just be colored bars going up and down randomely. Is that what you had in mind? If you want it synced, you'll need to do it through Flash. There are tons of samples for that available at http://www.flashkit.com

Let me know if you complete this in flash, maybe post the file. Would be cool to see :)

Also might be a good addition to my personal site once i finally get the mp3 player going

It is impossible unless you painstakinly sync the sound with the gif. Gifs do not support sound nor will they have the capacity to sync with the music (again, unless you do it by hand).

The bars will simply go up and down at random, but i have not yet found a tutorial for it.
Try to explore! It wouldnt be hard, just make a box, hallow it, add some bars, and each frame from them 1px up or down.

Exactly,... but from the initial post, it doesn't sound like they wanted in to be in sync. Would probably be the easiest to make it in flash and export as gif.
